About Us

Artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping science, industry, and society. As AI systems are applied to complex and high-dimensional data, it becomes essential that their decisions are not only accurate, but also transparent, understandable, and reliable.

The Applied Artificial Intelligence Lab at Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences is led by Prof. Dr. Jennifer Hannig, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at THM and member of hessian.AI – the Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence .

The lab is affiliated with THM’s Department of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Data Processing (MND) and the Centre of Competence for Information Technology (KITE).

Our research focuses on trustworthy and explainable artificial intelligence. We develop and evaluate AI methods for complex and multimodal data, including time series, images, and video, with particular emphasis on transparency, interpretability, robustness, and reliability. Through interdisciplinary and application-driven research, we translate AI approaches into practical systems and contribute to their responsible use in science, industry, and society.

More information about our current projects, publications, and research activities can be found on our website. We welcome collaborations and exchanges with researchers, industry partners, and practitioners interested in applied, trustworthy, and explainable artificial intelligence.
